Financial Planning 101: What's a Financial Journey?
Jul 29, 2022Hi All!
Heidi here! Today I wanted to talk about what a financial journey looks like. Sometimes, I get the impression that we think people go from living paycheck to paycheck to being able to do anything they want anytime they want. Wouldn't that be nice? No planning, no work just instant freedom! I guess that's what buying lottery tickets is all about!
Nope, that's not happening. Most of us won't inherit a fortune from a long lost uncle or purchase the winning lotto ticket. Most of us will need to plan, to learn and to get help for our financial future. It isn't anything new though. We all use maps or GPS to get us were we want to go. We just need a map for our financial journey too!
Today, let's talk about the stepping stones!
Financially Healthy: This is the first stepping stone along the path.
Here we are economically secure enough to handle the expected and unexpected expenses life throws our way.
Financial Stability: The second stepping stone.
Here we are financially healthy AND we are free of debt, able to pay our monthly expenses with money left over for saving and investing.
Financial Security: The third stepping stone.
Here we are financially stable AND we have enough money to handle emergencies with no concerns about retirement no matter how long we live.
Financial Freedom: Woohoo!
Here we are financially secure AND we have enough savings, investments and cash that we do not need to work. It means our passive income is equal to or more than our income from our job.
Financial Freedom PLUS:
Just go buy your yacht already! :)
So here is the question. Where are you now? What is your goal? Let's get you there!
See you next week!
