First off, what is an unexpected expense?
A lot of people consider an unexpected expense as anything they didn't budget for and the use credit cards or emergency funds to pay for it.
So let's look at a few expenses that pop up for people and decide if it is expected or unexpected.

Semi Annual Insurance Payment
Property Taxes
Appliance Repair
Roof Repair
New tires
Emergency Room Bill
What do you think? Did you know you would probably have to buy tires or repair your car? Did you know that home repair expenses happen sometimes? Did you know that your insurance and property tax bill was coming up?
So here is the key. Those expenses do not have to be unexpected. They can be expected. You can PLAN for them and put aside a little money each month in your spending plan. When you do that those types of expenses won't sink your spending plan for the month!
